Where are you from?
I grew up in Lexington, moved to New York City for 15 years, then moved back a few years ago.
How long have you been a member at Steel Fox and why did you join?
Two years. I’d been doing Pilates and spin classes. But I got injured in a car accident and couldn’t work out for 3 years. I was really sad. I hoped that Crossfit would get me strong, fast, and it did.
What classes do you usually attend?
Early morning Steel-Fit.
What do you like to do outside of Steel Fox?
Writing and watching movies.
What is something we might not know about you?
I write about television and film, especially horror and combat films. For a long time that was my job.
What is your favorite movement?
All the functional moves, anything surprising. I do enjoy slamming a med ball into the floor. Does that say something about me?
Other favorite movement: Battle Ropes! I like to pretend that I'm a character in a 19th Century Russian novel, driving my troika across my estates, inspecting the serfs. Because that could happen.
What is your greatest accomplishment?
Recovering from that car accident.
What is one long term goal and one short term goal?
Short term: Pull-ups and more flexibility. Long term: Triathlon.
What motivates and inspires you?
Steel Fit’s trainers and other members motivate me to keep going. Watching Olympic sports on TV: those athletes inspire me.
